Type: Hostile Flora / Spawner Unit
Threat Level: Moderate (High if left unchecked)
Description:
Rooted in dense undergrowth and fed by corrupted aether veins, the Broodbloom Nest is a bio-engineered flora node designed to birth and maintain Chompbud populations. Its thick bulb pulsates rhythmically as it cultivates seed-creatures within, ejecting them at intervals or when threatened. The outer petals are hardened with natural thorns, shielding the vulnerable core during early combat phases.
Believed to be a defense mechanism grown by the ancient Verdant Engineers, Broodblooms are now rampant across overgrown ruins, acting as biological hives that can quickly overwhelm unprepared explorers.
Behavior:
Spawns Chompbuds at timed intervals or upon receiving damage.
Enters a "defensive bloom" state, closing its petals and reducing damage intake when health is low.
Slowly regenerates if not destroyed quickly.
Vulnerable to fire and energy-based attacks, especially when its bloom is open.
Combat Tip:
Take out the Broodbloom early before you're overrun. Chompbuds will keep spawning until the nest is destroyed.
Use area-of-effect damage to hit both the spawner and nearby minions.
Codex Entry:
“The Broodbloom doesn’t fight. It lets others do the biting. Cut the root, and the garden dies.”
